A more than successful first stage at the French Championships

On July 6th and 7th, Jérémie Felenc, our pro golfer at Opio Valbonne, went to the Golf International de Roissy for the 5th French Speedgolf Open. With scores of 83 in 55 minutes on the first day and 83 in 49 minutes on the second day, Jérémie brilliantly climbed onto the podium and secured 3rd place. Thus, he qualified for the 2024 Speedgolf World Championships in Japan, which took place in November.

The apotheosis with the World Championships in Japan!

On November 13 and 14, Jérémie took on the course at the 700 Hundred Golf Club in Sakura, Tochigi Prefecture, 2 hours north of Tokyo, for the 2024 Speedgolf World Championships. Over 18 holes and in stroke play, he finished in 28th place in the men’s category with scores of 83 in 53 minutes on the first day and 82 in 51 minutes on the second day.

A big congratulations to him for this great performance and for bringing the Golf d’Opio Valbonne, the Château de la Bégude, and Resonance Golf Collection all the way to Japan!

A quick look at speedgolf

The concept of speedgolf is relatively simple: score as few points as possible, like in “traditional” golf, and do it as quickly as possible.

The score in speedgolf then combines the gross score and the time taken to play the course. That is to say, one minute is equal to one stroke. If we take the example of Jérémie during the world championships, he scored 140.3 on the first day and 136.54 on the second day. The goal is therefore to achieve the lowest combination of time and strokes. The major challenge of speedgolf is then to balance one’s running pace with the ability to play shots quickly and, above all, with precision.

Jérémie mostly plays with only two clubs: a 4-hybrid and a PW, in order to maintain a reasonable running weight.

“If you go jogging… you’re going to love speedgolf!”
